Privacy Policy
Effective October 18, 2026
The short version
- Spark is used by parents and caregivers. Children don't create accounts or enter information.
- We collect only what the app needs to work: your sign-in details and the family information you enter.
- No ads. No third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. We never sell or share your data for advertising.
- You can delete your account and data anytime from inside the app.
This Privacy Policy explains how GBY Media LLC ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in the Spark Habit Tracker mobile app ("Spark" or the "App") and on sparkhabitstracker.com (the "Site"). By using Spark, you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
1. Who Spark is for
Spark is a habit tracker for parents and caregivers of young children. The account holder must be an adult (18 or older, or the age of majority where you live). Children do not sign in, create accounts, or type information into the App. The kid-facing "Show" view only displays information that the parent has already entered.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. Your email address, or the identifier and email address provided by Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in (if you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive a private relay address). You can also add an optional display name that other grown-ups in your family see.
- Family information. Your family's name, and for each child: a first name or nickname, an age, and an avatar color. We recommend using a first name or nickname only.
- Habits and progress. Habits you create (name, icon, days, time of day, reminder setting), the dates habits were checked off and which grown-up checked them off, reward goals and their star targets, rewards given, and reminder times.
- Photos (optional, Spark Plus). If you choose to use a photo as a habit icon, the App uploads that one photo, cropped and compressed. We only access your camera or photo library when you choose to add a photo, and only the photo you pick is uploaded.
- Family sharing (Spark Plus). When you invite another grown-up, we create an invite code and record who created and accepted it.
- Messages to us. If you contact us, we keep the contents of that conversation.
Information collected automatically
- Purchase information. If you subscribe to Spark Plus, Apple processes your payment. We never see your card or payment details. We receive your subscription status (for example, active, trial, or expired, and when it renews or ends) through our subscription provider, RevenueCat, linked to your Spark account ID.
- Technical information. Like most online services, our hosting providers process basic technical data needed to deliver the service and keep it secure, such as IP address, device and operating system type, app version, and request logs.
Information that stays on your device
- Reminders are scheduled locally on your phone. We don't use push notification servers to send them.
- Printable charts are generated on your device.
- App preferences, such as which child is selected, are stored on your device.
What we don't collect
We don't collect precise location, contacts, health data, or advertising identifiers. We don't use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. How we use information
- To provide the App: sign you in, save and sync your family's habits and stars across devices, and show them to the grown-ups in your family.
- To provide Spark Plus: check your subscription status and unlock Plus for your household.
- To respond to support requests and send service messages, such as sign-in codes and important account notices.
- To keep the App secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use.
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not sell or rent it, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by California law.
4. Who can see your information
Your family. Everything in your family (children, habits, check-offs, rewards, and habit photos) is visible to every grown-up who is a member of your family in the App. Only invite people you trust. You can remove a member at any time.
Service providers. We use a small number of providers who process data on our behalf, only to run Spark:
| Provider | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Sign-in, database, and photo storage | Account and family information, habits, progress, photos |
| RevenueCat | Managing subscriptions | Spark account ID, purchase and subscription status |
| Apple | App distribution, payments, Sign in with Apple | Governed by Apple's privacy policy |
| Google sign-in (if you choose it) | Governed by Google's privacy policy |
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or if we believe in good faith it's necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us.
Business transfers. If GBY Media LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal. We'll notify you before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Children's privacy
Spark is designed for use by adults. It is not directed to children, and children do not use it to submit information. The information about children in Spark (a first name or nickname, age, habits, and progress, and any habit photos) is entered by a parent or caregiver, who controls it. We use it only to provide the App to that family, never for advertising or profiling.
Parents can review, change, or delete their child's information at any time in the App (Family → the child → Delete), or by contacting us. If you believe a child has given us personal information directly, please contact us through gbymedia.co and we'll delete it.
Tip: for habit photos, use pictures of your child's things (like their toothbrush or shoes) rather than of your child.
6. How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete a child, habit, or reward, it's removed from your family. When you delete your account, we delete your account information. If you were the only grown-up in your family, we also delete all of your family's data, including children, habits, progress, rewards, invite codes, and photos. If other grown-ups remain in your family, the shared family data stays with them, and your name is removed from it.
Deleted data may remain in encrypted backups for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) before being overwritten. Apple and RevenueCat keep purchase records as required for tax and accounting purposes.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and edit: view and change your information directly in the App.
- Delete: in the App, go to Family → Delete account. You can also contact us to request deletion.
- Photos and camera: you can turn off Spark's camera and photo access in your iPhone's Settings at any time.
- Reminders: turn notifications off in the App or in your iPhone's Settings.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel in your App Store account settings.
Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, UK, or certain US states such as California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact GBY Media LLC through gbymedia.co. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Legal bases (EU/UK). We process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the App), for our legitimate interests (keeping the App secure and improving it), to comply with legal obligations, and with your consent where required (for example, camera and photo access).
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest with our hosting provider. Access is restricted so that only members of a family can read that family's data, and habit photos are stored in a private bucket that only members of the family can open. No method of storing or transmitting data is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
9. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, for transfers of personal information.
10. The website
sparkhabitstracker.com is a simple informational site. It doesn't use cookies, analytics, or tracking. Our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here and change the effective date above. If the changes are significant, we'll let you know in the App or by email before they take effect.
12. Who we are
